Human-Centred Urban Design Training Course

Advanced Urban Planning and Development

Human-Centred Urban Design Training Course examines human-centred design principles, participatory urban planning, placemaking, universal accessibility, public-space design, urban mobility, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, digital technologies, and evidence-based urban development.

Course Overview

 Human-Centred Urban Design Training Course

Introduction

Human-Centred Urban Design is an advanced professional course focused on creating inclusive, resilient, accessible, safe, and people-oriented urban environments that respond effectively to the needs, behaviours, aspirations, and lived experiences of diverse communities. Human-Centred Urban Design Training Course examines human-centred design principles, participatory urban planning, placemaking, universal accessibility, public-space design, urban mobility, social inclusion, environmental sustainability, digital technologies, and evidence-based urban development. Participants will develop practical capabilities to integrate community engagement, behavioural insights, spatial analysis, design thinking, and innovative planning approaches into urban design processes.

The course provides a strategic framework for transforming streets, neighbourhoods, public spaces, transport corridors, and urban districts into functional and socially responsive places. Through international case studies, collaborative exercises, stakeholder engagement techniques, and practical urban design methodologies, participants will explore how cities can address rapid urbanisation, climate change, inequality, mobility challenges, housing pressures, and changing demographic needs. The programme strengthens professional competencies in inclusive urban design, smart-city development, sustainable placemaking, community participation, and resilient urban transformation while supporting better decision-making and measurable urban outcomes.
