Organizing Migrant and Casual Workers Training Course
Introduction
Migrant and casual workers form the backbone of the global informal economy, contributing significantly to sectors such as construction, agriculture, domestic work, logistics, hospitality, and manufacturing. Despite their economic importance, they often face labor exploitation, wage theft, unsafe working conditions, lack of social protection, and limited access to collective bargaining rights. Organizing Migrant and Casual Workers Training Course is designed to strengthen the capacity of tprofessionals to effectively mobilize, represent, and empower these vulnerable workers through rights-based organizing strategies, labor law advocacy, and grassroots unionization approaches.
In the context of increasing global labor migration, gig economy expansion, informalization of work, and cross-border employment, organizing migrant and casual workers has become a critical priority for achieving decent work, social justice, and inclusive economic growth. This course integrates modern approaches such as digital organizing tools, community-based labor mapping, intersectional labor rights advocacy, and transnational union networks. Participants will gain practical skills in worker engagement, leadership development, collective bargaining, campaign design, and labor rights enforcement, enabling sustainable and scalable organizing models for precarious workers in diverse economic settings.
