Course Overview

Hydrogen Safety Management Training Course

Introduction

Hydrogen Safety Management Training Course provides a comprehensive, practical and risk-based framework for managing the unique safety challenges associated with hydrogen production, storage, transportation, distribution, dispensing and end-use applications. As hydrogen projects move rapidly from pilot facilities toward large-scale deployment, organizations require competent professionals who can identify hazards, assess risks and implement robust hydrogen safety management systems (HSMS). Hydrogen presents distinctive challenges including high flammability, low ignition energy, rapid dispersion, invisible flames, high-pressure systems, cryogenic hazards, material compatibility, leakage and explosion risks. The course therefore focuses on practical hazard identification, risk assessment, process safety, fire and explosion prevention, gas detection, ventilation, emergency preparedness and operational controls. The newly published ISO/TS 15916:2026 provides updated guidance on fundamental hydrogen-system safety concerns and hazards, while ISO 22734-1:2025 addresses safety requirements for hydrogen generators using water electrolysis.

The programme also explores current clean hydrogen, green hydrogen, electrolyzer, hydrogen mobility, hydrogen refuelling and energy-transition safety requirements, helping participants develop a proactive safety culture across the hydrogen value chain. It incorporates principles associated with NFPA 2 Hydrogen Technologies Code, hydrogen fuelling-station requirements under ISO 19880-1, and modern approaches such as Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA), HAZOP, LOPA, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), digital monitoring, predictive maintenance and emergency response planning. Current hydrogen-safety research emphasizes system-level risk management, real-time monitoring, quantitative risk assessment, reliability data and workforce development as important foundations for safe hydrogen deployment.
