Introduction A uniquely rewarding, dynamic and diverse creative industry, a career in event management can be incredibly fulfilling. On a global basis, demand for increasingly extravagant and elaborate events has led to an enormous spike in demand for qualified and experienced event planners. From minor business meetings to major music festivals, the event manager serves as the linchpin that brings the whole thing together. This course has been designed specifically to provide an entry-level overview of both the industry and the profession. Duration 5 days Course objectives Course content Meeting Planning Basics Students will learn the basics of planning and coordinating meetings in this introductory course. The course discusses how to make contacts and organize an event. Students learn about legal issues in event planning, event coordination, promotions, entertainment and other relevant topics. Promotion and Marketing Students in this event planning class learn about the use of marketing tools and advertising to promote events. Coursework typically includes creating an event marketing plan that can be used as an outline for future projects. Design and Production This course develops the student's abilities to manage materials, staff, entertainment and other resources. Students gain practical experience in setting up events and in making sure all aspects of the event are properly organized. Topics include: serving staff coordination, food delivery, and guest registration. Catering Management This provides an overview of managing the food preparation workers, catering staff, drivers, and other necessary staff members. The course teaches specific tips for determining prices and choosing menus. Students gain hands-on experience in catering events and working with staff. They will also become familiar with on-site expectations. Weddings and Social Events This course addresses weddings and related events. It involves an overview of helping people to plan every aspect of their weddings, including budgeting and choosing a location(s). The course identifies ways to organize the events so the couples are happy and the events less stressful. Methodology The methods for training will entail the use of guided sessions, presentations and practical exercises. The course will also utilize web-based tutorials and group work whereby the participants will work with professionals in these fields.
